LosT Childhood Object
It was really fun to reminisce and explain each others childhood objects and what was important to us in our childhood. As Picasso said “Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once they grow up.” So with this quote in mind, it was a meaningful way to begin the class and held more relevance than I thought at the time.
The process of making the dollhouse for Katie was enjoyable for me. I have always loved to work with my hands and as a child I would often make small living spaces for lizards or birds or dolls. I was always so intrigued with the items that adults used to live and wanted to make them for myself in miniature fashion fitting for a child. I would’ve like a little more time on this project but I think it was very effective to have to create something that held so much weight in peoples childhoods in so little time. If I had more time I would’ve liked to make my own wall paper in the cottage core style by painting it but I instead used leftover patterned scrap paper.
Katie did really well to recreate my piece and paid attention to the details. It looked so much like the actual book that I created as a child!
